Houston (Leashes & Lace 1)… A Book Review
Houston (Leashes & Lace 1) by Shaw Montgomery was a solid, good read. I was surprised how long it took until the main characters got together for the first time, but otherwise a solid start to the series.
I did not start reading the Leashes & Lace series with this book; something held me back, and instead started with the second book, Eli, then read the rest. After reading Houston, I realized that I was initially put off by the concept of a Dom wearing lace underwear (aka manties) as I had read in the synopsis.
I am glad I got over myself and gave this book a chance. The manties are only a small part of the catalyst between Houston and Reece, and help bring them to realize their mutual lust for each other. I now understand where the Leashes and the Lace come into this series, and it is worth it.
Despite the slow burn for the main characters, this book is plenty hot, and I didn’t mind that most of the heat is in the fantasies that Houston has about making Reece submit, and since Reece is a virgin, about the naughty things he wishes Houston knew he wanted to be done to him.
The mentions to the lingerie business, the lingerie itself, and the secondary character situations happening alongside Reeces & Houston’s story, were a little vague in this book, and (especially the business) are actually explained more in depth in the other books. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Because I had read the other books in the Leashes & Lace series first, all the references in this book made more sense.
