New Tricks Has Long Term Relationship Goals
New Tricks by Davidson King is my first book in the Ace’s Wild Series. The books in this series tie together through the fictional town of Vintage Ridge and visits to the adult store called Ace’s Wild. Each book has a different author. This happens to be book #10, but you can read them in any order.

I decided to give this one a try because of the author and the synopsis. It didn’t hurt that I was on holiday break, and this book takes place during a major winter holiday.
Embry and Malcolm are on a road trip to spend Thanksgiving with Embry’s parents. His parents refuse to acknowledge Embry’s relationship with long-term boyfriend, Malcolm. This hits Embry hard and affects his relationship.
Their homophobic behavior causes Embry stress and anxiety. Malcolm uses their pit stop in the town of Vintage Ridge to reconnect with Embry. This is where we meet Ace and Wilder, and their adult store: Ace’s Wild.
What they buy from Ace’s Wild helps them reconnect through sex. Fun times. What they learn through this experience helps Embry grow. Which helps him release the shackles of the brokenness between Embry and his parents.
I approached the story with trepidation, as too often stories about relationships on the rocks tend to go south. This, fortunately, was not one of those! The main characters are good together, and it was heartwarming to read their willingness to put in some work to keep it going strong.
The book was enjoyable to read, I may have even gotten misty-eyed at certain parts, but all in all great story.
New Tricks is available on Kindle Unlimited.
