Broke & Bound – Dark Romance M/M Box Set
Broke and Bound is a collection of novellas by Loki Renard, all revolving around one dangerous man: Angelo Vitali. The novellas in this collection are available as stand-alones, but this is the complete story from violent start to finish.
The titles contained in this box set are:
- Taken Boy
- Perfect Evil
- Pure Evil
- Angelo (Prequel-esque)
There is a strong BDSM component, mixed in with the violence associated with a mafia kingpin, so if sex & violence isn’t your thing, then this book is not for you. Angelo Vitali is VERY dominant, and the lovers he collects for his family (*cough* harem) will submit to his desires. It’s all very intense.
Putting all these stories together makes sense since each story builds on the one before it. I was surprised at the ending. I wonder if Pure Evil had a different ending at one point, and then maybe the author reconsidered and included the bonus chapter to change the ending? Because I didn’t care for it. It was my least favorite of the four novellas. It was also the least sexy of the stories, so it serves well as part of the group, but on its own, it would have made a great thriller, as it was light on the sex/romance, dark, and otherwise. That’s why I only gave this 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.
However, the prequel-esque novel Angelo brought the series to a satisfying close by shedding light on the main character’s backstory and what drives him to be the way he is.
For fans of dark and twisted romance, with bondage, sadism, a bit of kink, and a bit of a harem component, Broke and Bound M/M Box Set is definitely worth a read
