Winning the Wallflower, a win-win
Winning the Wallflower by Eloisa James was delightful and delicious. First off, I will be inclined to read a story from the onset if the heroine is a wallflower. There is something so cathartic about rooting for the underdog. Of course, no wallflower story would be as satisfying if the heroine didn’t drive her dashing hero into a frenzy of lust just because of her genuine qualities. That is what makes it so fantastical and exciting! Ah, the joy of escapist reading!

For being brief, this novella was chock full of entertainment! Huzzah to Eloisa James for giving Lucy a proper and believable story with her man, Cyrus, and not just using her as a stepping stone to her more in-depth novels to come, beginning with and involving the best friend Olivia, who is introduced in this novella.
As this story was drawing to an end, I had to remind myself that it could not possibly continue for much longer because of the fact that it was a novella and not a full-length novel!
The characters of Lucy and Cyrus were so well written and likable, I could have easily read more. I particularly liked that at the end, the epilogue wasn’t just one paragraph showing barely an eyeful of the future. Instead, it was a chapter all on its own, and detailed enough that any intelligent reader could fill in the gaps of what wasn’t said using only the clues of what was actually written!
Having read this novella, and it being my first, I fear that the bar has been set high for this type, and future novellas I read will have to strive to surpass the sheer pleasure that was this little romantic tale.
